WHAT A PROGRAM !
Olga, you were just amazing ! You kept on top of the critical issues,
bringing it back and bringing it back to what needed to be said !
Thank you !
I have scanned the ABC online forum and there are some very interesting and
alarming comments there.

Below are the 2 I submitted.

And just want to also ask ... does Sue Gordon identifiy as an Indigenous person ?
I only ask as from reading through the Panelists' BIOs, Tom, Lowitja and
yourself, you each acknowledge your Aboriginality, however, this is not
mentioned in Sue's BIO. Perhaps it was an oversight ??? No disrespect
intended, just wondering !

* Totally agree with the previous writer ... action, may indeed do more
damage
and, in this case, not only does it do this, but it also demonstrates an
unjustified blow out in costs, when effort and resources would be far better
directed into programs that address the social problems head on and through
supporting communities' self determination and responsibility, as Olga
refered to, and into capacity building, as Tom referred to, which is clearly
not occurring.

* May I also take up, I think it was Sue Gordon's point, that 'some of
these
communities have not had a police prescence'. Sue, how can you show so much
blind faith in the value of a police prescence, in the first instance, as
though even having one can be a good thing, especially in this context ? Can
you honestly say that Aboriginal people feel safer now with the police and
army there, when, not so long ago in Australia's history, it was the police
who physically dragged the children from their family homes, or on their way
home from school, some never to see their mothers, their families, their
land again ?

And as the gentleman so neatly summarised, it was only a matter of weeks
ago, that the Australian Army was depicted in KKK garb.

Adding into this issue, what training do the police, Army or any of these
government agency personel have in working with and respecting Aboriginal
people, esp. those living in remote parts of Australia, at a time this
action is being rolled out ?

GET REAL !
